Did you know that oily skin also gets dehydrated?
November 2, 2021Taking care of our skin is essential to keep it healthy. If you want your face to look smooth and youthful, you need to follow a simple daily care routine consisting of three basic steps: cleansing, moisturizing, and UV protection.
Your daily care routine should include these three essential products for proper cleansing: cleanser, moisturizing, and sunscreen. That’s the trio to keep close to care for your skin.
There are several types of facial soaps, as well as moisturizers and sunscreens. The important thing is to find suitable products for your skin type. Whether your skin is dry, combination, or oily, the choice of cleansing products depends on that. But before going to a cosmetic store and taking any of them, the best idea is to visit a specialist, as your trusted dermatologist, for recommendations.
As for sunscreen, a broad-spectrum sunscreen is recommended. Don’t forget to apply it if you will be exposed to the sun for long hours, such as on a day at the beach or at a picnic. Remember that UV rays are extremely harmful to the skin and can cause severe damage if you do not protect yourself from them.
Steps of a facial cleansing routine
The fundamental step in facial care is cleansing, which you can do with the cleanser recommended by your doctor or cosmetologist or the facial soap you have chosen according to your skin type. The type of cleansing you do can vary depending on the time of the day.
Typically, when we do the morning cleansing, we only apply the facial soap as the first step of the routine. That is the opposite of the evening cleansing, which we usually do after a long day at work, a walk, or after physical activity. The difference is that we will probably have makeup on or built-up impurities on our faces when we do the nighttime routine.
If you are going to do the cleansing and have makeup on, you should first remove it with wet towels, milk, balm, or micellar water. Then rinse with warm water and finally take the cleanser and remove all impurities from your face.
For the second step, we will need moisturizing, which will be that lotion or moisturizing cream that will help us prevent our skin from drying or dehydrating, thus causing a dull and gloomy appearance on the face. Depending on your skin type, you can add oil after the moisturizing lotion to seal the process and nourish it even more.
Last but not least, we have the sunscreen step. Sunscreen undoubtedly plays an essential role in our skincare in general, but even more so for our face. However, sunscreen varies according to the occasion.
The sunscreen you use for the beach will not be the same as the one you apply every day. And this is because, for your daily facial skincare, the sunscreen you use should be lighter and colorless, which you apply as the last step of your morning beauty routine, just before applying makeup.
This step is left out for that nighttime cleansing you do at the end of your day, but it’s essential to keep it as a daily basic in your morning facial care routine.
